Update for 2010

Thursday 18th March 2010

When you send us feedback we really do listen, the good, the bad and frankly the ugly. We take it all onboard in an aim to make our site tailored to you our readers, as the more useful we can make our site the more money we can donate to great causes.

We received feedback that score only reviews are great, but sometimes a little more detail is required. Well we are proud to introduce our "Best Review on the Net" feature which allows anybody visiting our site including web site owners to suggest a review that they feel is the best on the Internet for any game in our database.

We've made it nice and easy to submit a review, simply find the game you wish to attach a review to and click the "review submission" link and complete the form. Our budding editors will do the rest sifting through the submissions to find the best of the best.

But wait that's not all!

We understand that sometimes it is hard to know which publications to follow, new ones to keep an eye on and the ones you should avoid. So we have created a "publication" section on our site.

Using our powerful search algorithm you can now easily search for a publication whether it is web based, a magazine, a television show or even a radio spot. All visitors can rate the publications in our database using our RAISE scale and from this scale a publication is given a no fuss review score. That’s right we now allow reviews on reviewers!

Give it a whirl by visiting: nofussreviews.com/industry/

If you cannot find the publication you are looking for or your own a publication that is not listed simply find a good review and attach it to the relevant game in our database and we'll do the rest!

So to recap, the best game review on the net and the ability to rate a publication and view its no fuss score.

That's a big update and we hope you like it. But we would like to say without you our loyal readers none of this would have been possible, so thank you everybody and lets keep on giving to great causes!

Influence from members

Wednesday 15th October 2008

We have now introduced influence scores. This score is shown on a game listings page for a specific game and is a percentage.

This percentage shows how much our members agree or disagree with our official review score. The higher the number the more our members feel the score is wrong the lower the more accurate they feel it is.

A high influence score will notify us and we may choose to re-review this game.

Accounts now open

Saturday 12th July 2008

You can now create a No Fuss Reviews account and let the world see what you think of any game in our database.

Creating an account gives you your own No Fuss Reviews sub-domain, where anyone visiting can search your reviews, subscribe to your RSS feeds and see which games you own, love and hate.

GTA4 Statement

Thursday 8th May 2008

Recently we reviewed the much anticipated new Grand Theft Auto game, Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA4) and gave it the highest score of 10 out of 10.
We have received a barrage of emails stating this game should not be reviewed so highly and promoted as such, as it contains violence, drink driving and other illegal acts. We would like to remind everybody that it is only a game, and it does not glamorise any of these acts that are so protested against. Grand Theft Auto 4 is a sandbox game, and thus the user makes the decisions and can choose to perform illegal acts such as drink driving, incidentally within the game if you choose to drink drive you soon discover that the game actively discourages this and we would suggest before people make assumptions they should play the game for at least a couple of hours and discover the context all the illegal acts are placed within.

No Fuss Reviews will not be changing the score of Grand Theft Auto 4 as this goes against our policy of honest reviews.

Down-time

Sunday 13th April 2008

Due to server maintenance some users may not have been able to connect to No Fuss Reviews. Users most affected would have been those accessing our site from the United Kingdom. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time.

Our server maintenance included steps to help prevent down-time in the future and provide search results quicker.

Three colours

Monday 31st March 2008

Thanks to everybody who designed us some sweet backgrounds to use as themes.

Alan Terry provided our default blue theme background.

Tia Southgate provided our great stitched red theme.

Tony Ohara provided our green theme, very classy.

Where's all the blue?

Wednesday 26th March 2008

No Fuss Reviews has only been active for about 2 weeks now but we have already received close to 20,000 unique visits.

Due to the popularity of No Fuss Reviews, we have received a large investment from a undisclosed entity to improve our service to you, our users. No Fuss Reviews has now been moved to a new web server and as you may have noticed has had a face-lift.

We thank everybody who filled out our survey, and most of your suggestions have been implemented. These being: more platforms, more RSS feeds, less advertising and a stream-lined interface. However the most popular request is still being looked into, we will keep this under our hats for now but will keep you posted.

We have also made searching even easier, the platform select box now changes all results on the page and you can now search direct from the address bar, for instance...

www.nofussreviews.com/sonic spin

Will return results for any game containing the words "sonic" and "spin".

We hope you find all of the made changes useful and hope to continue providing you with No Fuss Reviews.
